Santa’s Ranch in New Braunfels Texas was opened back in 2003 by Frank and Melanie Bass after some similar parks in the area closed down. From then on, the couple’s family helped set up the park to make it better and better.

Every year, the couple would recruit family members and workers to help them build dozens of scenes, run around 75 miles of cords, and test out more than a million lights. Given that the entire park is nearly a mile long, it takes the whole family almost 2 months to make everything. But their hard work always pays off in the end.

Each holiday season, the family changes up their displays at Santa’s Ranch. Some of the many scenes they’ve done include the solar system, a prehistoric area complete with dinosaurs, a military display, the Golden Gate Bridge, Noah’s ark, and a toy mill.

One thing that doesn’t change, however, is the story of Jesus. Every year displays always follow a sort of timeline through the park from Jesus’ birth to his resurrection.

The park also donates proceeds each year to the Arthritis Foundation and local organization Light Work 316, Inc. The latter supports families facing major or life-altering illness or injury, including cancer.

From its humble beginnings, Santa’s Ranch in New Braunfels has continued to give the purest form of joy to families and friends who visit. And it only looks like it’s going to get merrier and merrier every year that passes.
