Visit one of the many lakes and water bodies in the San Antonio area is an excellent choice for a weekend activity. The Medina River is a great option because it is a natural nature area that has roughly seven miles of trails. This river is great for fishing, camping, or even going for a small swim.

There is also the Elmendorf Lake located on the west side of San Antonio. This hidden gem has a vast lake making for a perfect day outside. Along with the bird sanctuary where ducks swim, people can kayak in the water, kids can play on the jungle gym, and more.

There are also lots of cheap things to do in San Antonio at night! The River Walk, arguably one of the best attractions in San Antonio, is great for both locals and tourists. Entrance to the Riverwalk is free and nighttime is the best time to enjoy their twinkling lights and silvery water.

The Blue Star Arts Complex located in Southtown, is one of the better-known open galleries in the area. The eclectic mix of bars, restaurants, galleries, and shops always has fun events on the weekend. You can also visit nearby Gallista Gallery and the South Flores Arts District.
