San Antonio loves dogs and dogs love San Antonio! Whether you’re hungry after a day at the dog park or just want to get out and about with your pet, there are plenty of dog-friendly restaurants and bars in San Antonio to hang out with your paws out.

As of May 18, 2020, bars are allowed to reopen, and restaurants can increase capacity. So if you’re looking to get out with your pooch, here are some great ideas.

North San Antonio

Hops and Hounds

The newest dog-friendly bar in San Antonio, located on the Northeast side. From owners of Taco Garage and Burleson Yard Beer Garden, this new spot is located near the front gates of McAllister Park.

The Hangar

For delicious bar food, cheap drinks, bar games, and a cool, dog-friendly patio, hit up The Hangar. They’re on the Broadway strip.

The Hoppy Monk

This independent, family-owned craft beer bar and restaurant also has an awesome patio. They have gravel to keep your dog’s paws cool and plenty of shady trees.

Tycoon Flats

This kid- and pet- friendly burger joint and beer garden offers happy hour, stays open late, and has a fun, gravel-filled patio for you to enjoy with your pet.

The Cove

This restaurant, beer garden, and live music venue boasts their own dog- friendly patio. Check out their rules before you go but it’s pretty simple- respect!

Faust Tavern

You’ve got to check out the patio at this tavern- cozy, shady, and just right for grabbing a beer with your best bud. It’s also a great place to hang out late.

Candlelight Coffee House

This cozy coffee house and restaurant serves up delicious food and beautiful tile patio.

Mama’s Cafe

Check out this huge, shady deck with picnic and patio tables.  They serve delicious soul food for you to share- or not- with your pup.

Taco Garage

This fast-paced diner serves up Tex-Mex breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. They offer walk-up counter service and a shady, dog-friendly patio.

 

Near Downtown

The Pearl Brewery

This local brewery offers a dining plaza, shopping, live shows, and a collection of affiliated restaurants. Try La Gloria for Mexican food and a shady, gravel patio. Great for pup’s feet. The Granary Cue and Brew has a wrap- around porch. Viva Taco Land and Green Vegetarian Cuisine are also dog- friendly.

This counter- serve restaurant has a funky, shaded patio with plenty of seating.

Rita’s on the River

Near the Riverwalk, this beautiful restaurant has a shady patio with umbrella tables.
