Ready…set…get fit!  Fitness in the Park is a city-wide award-winning program that offers a wide variety of FREE exercise and fitness classes all over San Antonio! 

Join some of the local parks, community centers, or libraries listed below and let them help you achieve your fitness goals.  It’s easy to find a fitness program for you!  Take a look at their current schedule and find a class that intrigues you.  There is no registration required for most classes.

Bonnie Conner Park

Named in 2007 for the long-time environment and green space advocate Bonnie Conner, this park officially opened to the public on Saturday, February 14, 2009. It featured a pavilion, playground, two picnic units, and a drinking fountain, in addition to parking.

Enrique Barrera Fitness Center (Barrera Community Fitness Center)

If you’re looking for the best fitness deal in town, you need to look no further than the Enrique Barrera Community Center. It features a 4,800-square-foot multi-purpose room, a 1,700-square-foot aerobic room, and a 1,700-square-foot fitness center featuring exercise equipment and a wellness library.

Equipment includes four treadmills, three elliptical machines, two multi-station workout areas, one recumbent bike, an adaptive motion trainer, a functional training system glide machine, a rower, a weightlifting bench, and dumbbells ranging from five to 100 pounds. Garza Community Center offers a wide variety of programming, including youth sports leagues, arts and crafts, table games, nutrition education, dance, music, and more.

Kardon Park

This park offers residents the opportunity to enjoy quality time with their family and friends in the great outdoors. Pack a picnic lunch and head out to the park to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine today. The outdoor fitness equipment located along the park’s trail is Health Beat fitness equipment from Landscape structures.

LBJ Park

Lady Bird Johnson Park is the location of San Antonio’s first skate park/pool facility combo in addition to the well-known Alva Jo Fischer softball complex and the Hamilton Community Center.

The pool and skate park are free to enter, and during the summer, many tourists use both areas simultaneously. LBJ has tennis and basketball facilities, green sports areas, and a hiking trail.

McAllister Park is comprised of 976 acres on the north side of San Antonio between Jones Maltsberger and Wetmore Roads. This park contains four miles of trails, a dog park, 4 Pavilions, 125 picnic units, restrooms, and parking areas.

Miller’s Pond Community Park consists of 42.15 acres of land purchased by the City of San Antonio in June 1976 from the BB Smith Company. The park features a pond stocked with fish by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, making it a favorite fishing spot for local children and adults alike.

Pearsall Park is 505 acres and is designed to offer a dynamic open space with fitness and recreational amenities ideal for facilitating health/wellness/sports activities and outdoor family/social gatherings.

San Antonio Natatorium

Built with federal grant funds, SA Natatorium was geared toward allowing inner city children an opportunity to develop and compete in competitive swimming and diving. the facility has produced an Olympic trial qualifier, numerous UIL state qualifiers (swimming and diving), and regional champions, and has served thousands of SAISD swimmers and divers.

Southside Lions Park

Southside Lions Park is a 600-acre tract that the City purchased from the estate of George W. Brackenridge in 1944 and 1964. The park, also known as Hi-Lions Park, takes it name from the organization that worked to preserve the area for public parkland. 

A recreation center, swimming pool, softball fields, tennis facility, dam, and 10-acre lake were built on the property.

Woodlawn Gym features a Community Health and Wellness Center. Strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, lose weight, and improve your mental health by working out regularly. From cardio for seniors to walking classes and circuit training, San Antonio residents will find a myriad of fitness opportunities available at the Community Health and Wellness Center.

The center features classes for seniors offered by the Department of Human Services during the fall, winter, and spring months. The Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of fitness classes from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
