It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane..It’s Captain Nemo’s submarine! If you have been looking to plan the perfect family outing for your kids, your quest ends here. The DoSeum children’s museum is currently showcasing a new exhibit: ‘The Voyage to the Deep’ organized by the Australian National Maritime Museum.
The award-winning touring exhibition, based on French author Jules Verne’s sci-fi adventure novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1870), brings to life the deep-sea exploits of Captain Nemo, his fantastical Nautilus submarine, and the mythical world he inhabited.
What to expect from the New Exhibit At The DoSeum
The exhibition is aimed at children under 12, and encourages learning via interaction. The plethora of interactive activities are designed to playfully engage their senses of sight, sound, touch and so on.
Kids can climb aboard and discover the inner workings of a submarine on a trip to the bottom of the ocean, teeming with treasures and wondrous creatures.
As Captains of the deep-sea vessels, they can peer through the periscopes, crank the propeller and explore Captain Nemo’s “Cabinet of Curiosities” full of remarkable marine specimens. Even play a bubbly pipe organ and unearth a galley full of strange foods!
Children can also change into a deep-sea dive suit. They can navigate through the majestic world below the waves including the octopus’ garden with its giant clamshell, slide down a giant squid, and then wander through the maze of seaweed in the kelp forest.
