The holiday season is upon us and there are plenty of ways to celebrate. Check out our list of things to do Thanksgiving Week in San Antonio for 2018:

 

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18

San Antonio Zoo Lights Open daily from November 17 through December 31, the San Antonio Zoo is Merry, Bright, and Wild at Night! You won’t see many of the animals but the lights are sure to be a treat. You can also get a train ride, visit with Santa, and more. Tickets start at $22.99 but you can get them for 25% off on Groupon for a limited time.

Santa’s Ranch- Visit Santa Clause in his Texas home! This festive ranch is all decked out for the season with a drive- thru Christmas Light Festival. Tickets start at $28 plus tax but do yourself a favor and just get the season pass.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19

Seaworld’s Christmas Celebration- Seaworld is all decked out in Christmas lights galore. The exhibit runs November 17 through January 6th, along with Christmas themed shows, a Nativity, Dinner with Santa, and more. The event is included with the price of admission.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20

Mr. Popper’s Penguins- The Magik Theatre is San Antonio’s own family- run theatre. This is their 25th anniversary and they’re putting on a ton of great shows. Mr. Popper’s Penguins runs November 20th through December 1 and tickets start around $12.

Santa Photos at JC Penny- Packages are available for your session with Santa Clause. Be sure to book early- spots fill up fast at this  event at Rolling Oaks Mall.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21

Riverwalk Fun Run- This short, 4- mile fun run is at your own speed. After the run, there is an after party at Pearl Square. Bring your own food and drinks! There’s no entry fee- the race begins at The Historic Pearl at 7 pm.

Toys for Tots Drop Off & Free Coco- Treat yourself to a free hot coco when you donate a new, unwrapped, unopened gift. The event runs all day, from 8 am to 5 pm.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22- THANKSGIVING DAY

The Great Turkey Challenge- Benefiting the San Antonio Food Bank, take a short run in a Turkey Trot! Registration is $30- you can feed two families! The shotgun goes off at 8:30 am.

Christmas Light Fest- What’s better than a Christmas light show? One where you don’t have to get out of the car. Check out this drive thru Christmas Light Fesstival going on Thanksgiving through December 30. Tickets start at just $10 for adults.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23

Ford Holiday River Parade- Listen to Christmas music, watch the River Walk Lighting Ceremony, and marvel at the floats pass on the river. Gates open at 5 pm. Tickets start around $28 and they’re selling out fast!

HEB Christmas Tree Lighting- The Annual “Gift to the City” is arriving at Travis Park. The Tree Lighting Celebration is from 3-6 pm and the tree is lit at 6:30. There will be cookie decorating, holiday crafts, giveaways, letters to Santa, and more.

Fredericksburg Trade Days– Their slogan is…if you can’t find it at Trade Days, you don’t need it! And that’s for a reason-they have seven acres and 350 vendors. Don’t miss the food trucks and biergarten! Parking is $5 and admission is free.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24

Christmas in Comfort- This annual festival has grown into a full- blown market with live entertainment, a parade, fireworks displays, a food court, and Visits with Santa. Check their schedule of activities.

Dickens on Main- Enjoy Thanksgiving, Olde England Style! Watch as Boerne gets decked out like Dickens. Admission is free and it’s one of the top things to do around San Antonio this weekend. The festival runs the 23rd and 24th. Cheerio!

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25

Holidays in Bloom at San Antonio Botanical Gardens- The gardens have been decked with bells and garland! It makes the perfect drop back for photo- ops. The event runs November 23- December 31. Tickets are $12.

3rd Annual Craft Fair at Abby’s Attic- This is one craft show which has gone to the kids! Child entrepreneurs are the name of the game so you can feel good about checking your Christmas gifts off your list. The event is one day only from 10 am to 6 pm.
