Yelp recently released a list of its top 100 places to brunch in the United States and two of San Antonio’s daintiest spots have made the cut. Check them out below.

Open only through the weekend, this cafe in San Antonio is a hot brunch spot for everyone who wants to indulge in good food and great vibes. Comfort Cafe has a really rustic and family friendly ambience which immediately makes it a great place to take the kids along. The cafe offers meals on a ‘pay what you can’ basis with a minimum of $10 per meal.

You can order a plateful of pancakes, crepes or waffles with a great variety including chocolate chip, blueberry compote and peanut butter bacon to choose from. But a great dish from the menu is the Lone Star Breakfast which comes with three eggs, potatoes, a choice of two meats and a side of pancakes. That’s a real brunch deal! Yet another must have is the The San Antonio Burger which is a blend of beef and chorizo with cheddar cheese, bacon, fried egg and chipotle mayo. Fresh salads also make up the menu for the health nerds among the brunch crowd. The Wild Blueberry Salad with fresh blueberries, sliced almonds, goat cheese and coconut flakes served with a citrus basil dressing is worth trying out. 

Comfort Cafe serves sumptuous helpings of really delicious food and all its proceeds go to a program that provides a safe space for individuals overcoming addiction.

Thyme for Lunch

This cute little diner-esque space has a lovely ambience with walls covered in photos of cityscapes and beaches along with some good artwork and paintings. The restaurant has proper social distancing norms in place and tables are spaced out enough for a safe dine-in experience.

Of all the interesting items on Thyme for Lunch’s menu, the savoury waffles are a must try. The buttermilk and chive waffles stuffed with applewood smoked ham, Gouda cheese and house candied jalapenos are topped with a generous helping of maple syrup and accompanied by a side of two eggs. If the health conscious within you is stirring, try the Breakfast Bowl which has roasted sweet potatoes, charred tomatoes, avocado and fresh kale with three scrambled eggs. The Greek omelet is quite enticing too. It is stuffed with spinach, red onions, feta, artichokes, kalamata olives and colored peppers and served with a side of herbed potatoes and your choice of toasted wheat or sourdough bread.

At the restaurant’s lowest price of $10, you can have the sweet waffles with seasonal berries or fruit compote and you can expect to pay $12.50 for a plate of Pulled Pork Benedict with ancho crema and pickled onions.
