The Snowy Day and Other Stories is coming soon to the Magik Theatre, San Antonio!!! The musical play is a loving and playful depiction of the beautiful moments of a child’s world. Drawing from three of Ezra Jack Keats’ beloved works—The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie, Googles! and A Letter to Amy—all of the stories reflect that wonderful moment of eye-opening discovery and innocent awe that any child who is enchanted by a snowy landscape experiences.

The Snowy Day And Other Stories has been adapted for the stage by Jerome Hairston and produced by special arrangement with Plays for New Audiences, a division of Children’s Theatre Company.
There are plenty of surprises as Ezra Keats’ beloved characters come to life as they encounter the enchantment and limitless possibilities. Every day, while watching his first snowfall, Peter discovers fresh and unexpected things. He and his friends run around and play in the snow, throwing snowballs and forming snow angels. As Peter learns the delight of whistling for the first time, audience will marvel at his discovery. They will also share in the excitement of writing the perfect letter to a friend. And much more!
The Snowy Day will feature an all African-American local cast. Keats received the 1963 Caldecott Medal for his collage artwork in this work, which was the first picture book with an African-American protagonist to win a major children’s book award.

- Opening Day: Saturday, February 12, 2022 | 2:00 PM
- Military Appreciation Day: The production on Sunday, February 13, 2022 | 3:00 PM will feature Military Appreciation Day, in which active or retired members of the military with an I.D. pay a discounted price of $11.50 (Reg. $26.50) per ticket for their entire party.
- Pay What You Wish: On Sunday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m., and Saturday Mar. 12 at 2 p.m., Magik Theatre will offer one of its Pay What You Wish performances, in which tickets are available only at the door on the day of the production. This is the Magik Theatre’s way of giving back to the community and providing an opportunity for families to experience live theatre with a donation of any amount.

COVID-19 Guidelines at Magik Theatre
Due to the impact of the pandemic, Magik Theatre has its COVID-19 policy in place. The policy includes temperature checks before entering the building. Additionally, face masks are mandatory for those above the age of two.
Seating will also be capped at 30% (the theatre holds 579 seats, and will only be seating 144) and special protocols for merchandise and concession sales will also be in place.
