Free Family Events in San Antonio this Weekend
La Semana Alegre
La Semana Alegre is the music enthusiasts’ haven this weekend. Featuring multiple stages over two days, you’re sure to find someone to jam to.
There will also be food and drinks, a vendor market, and more – all in support of Hemisfair, a nonprofit urban parks district. Keep an eye out for your favorite fiesta food and drinks, like aguas frescas or chicken on a stick!

Watch out for performances by local groups and hear ‘Nuevo Camino,’ ‘Movimiento Cumbia,’ the ‘Conjunto Cats,’ and ‘512 Degrees’ by their headline act. And don’t forget to check out their new events, including ‘Bark in the Barrio’ Dog Costume Contest and a ‘Como la Flor’ Costume Contest.
The festival is also bringing back favorites, including the Chancla Toss and Concha Eating Contest. Plus, there will also be a wide variety of food, craft vendors, art projects, and kids’ entertainment zones, giving everyone something to enjoy.

This weekend, San Antonio Downtown is about to explode with color and sound for the 134th Battle of Flowers® Parade!
Pick your spot and watch as the street comes alive with incredible floats, the stirring sounds of marching bands, and the majestic presence of equestrian units all dressed for this year’s theme of “Melodies in Bloom: A Texas Serenade.”
You can purchase bleacher seats through the official website, or local organizations usually sell seating tickets the day of the parade. I would have chairs with you just in case, but these options are so much nicer because they limit what you need to lug around.
