Due to the pandemic, different companies and businesses from across the globe are partnering to bring unorthodox versions of their services to their clientele. One such example is the Tribeca Film Festival pairing up with Walmart to host the Walmart Drive-in. Walmart Drive-in is a series of free drive-in movie screenings that people across the country can attend.

The movies that will be screened include Black Panther, The LEGO Batman Movie, E.T., and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Drive-in fanatics can also expect either virtual or in-person cameos from guest celebrities like Drew Barrymore, LeBron James, and Jennifer Garner. Walmart Drive-in services will be available at 160 Walmart parking lots across the nation and will run from August 14 to October 21, totaling 320 showings of popular movies.

Movie selections include:

  • Sports stories like Friday Night Lights, The Karate Kid, and Space Jam
  • Blockbuster franchises including Black Panther, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, The LEGO Batman Movie, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Spy Kids, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies, and Wonder Woman
  • Out-of-this-world stories like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Ghostbusters, and Men in Black: International
  • Classic tales including Back to the Future, Beetlejuice, The Goonies, and The Wizard of Oz
  • Inspiring true stories from Dolphin Tale to Selena
  • Family-friendly picks like CarsThe Iron Giant, The LEGO Movie, and Madagascar

Each featured movie will be proceeded by a short film and Drew Barrymore will act as a virtual host for all events, making sure that guests are welcomed to the fun drive-in theatre. She’ll also make a surprise in-person visit to one of the lucky theatres along with Jennifer Garner, LeBron James, This Is Us star Chrissy Metz, and Peter Berg.

Janey Whiteside, Walmart’s chief customer officer says “We recognize the challenges our customers and their families have faced over the last few months and we wanted to create an experience where they could come together safely to create new memories. The Walmart Drive-in is one small way we’re supporting the communities we serve.”
