Well, we’ve made it to the first official weekend of 2019. There are so many free and/or inexpensive activities all over the city for the whole family to enjoy. Get your calendar out and make some plans!

Daily Fun

Go Kart Racing at K1 Speed
K1 Speed’s indoor go-kart racing lets you race friends, family, colleagues or the clock in a fun and friendly environment. K1 Speed is a great place for indoor entertainment. Get your tickets online starting at $17.

The Witte Museum
The Witte Museum has exhibits for the whole family, including the H-E-B Body Adventure, a giant Quetzalcoatlus – the largest flying dinosaur ever found and a whole lot more. Tickets start at only $12!

First Friday at Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum 
What: Come out to enjoy the current exhibits for free on the First Friday! While there, check out  the other happenings in the Blue Star Arts Complex.

The Holocaust: Learn & Remember
What: 
The Holocaust: Learn & Remember is a commemoration and remembrance of the Holocaust. Programs and discussions will be held throughout the month and visitors will have the opportunity to hear first-hand accounts of the Holocaust from local survivors, and learn more about the experience from the local and national presenters and scholars.
When:

“San Antonio | The Saga” at Main Plaza
What: This free video art installation, created by Xavier De Richemont, plays three times a night, weather permitting, on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on the facade of San Fernando Cathedral.

Saturday

Bird Walk at Brooks
What: Come out for bird walks designed for the beginning birder. Traveling by foot, your guide will go over birding identification and the proper use of binoculars, you’ll then explore the Greenline for various species. Advanced birders are also welcome to attend. There will be binoculars available to borrow if you don’t have your own. Meet at the butterfly kite statue in the main area of the park. Bring sunscreen, hat, closed-toed shoes, and water.

Home Depot Free Kids Workshop
What: This is a hands-on workshop for your child. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a workshop apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.
When: January 5, 9:00 – 12:00 p.m.

Michael’s Kids Club
What: 
They craft, you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a quick craft project in store! Supplies included with the fee. Parents/guardians must remain on premises during the event.

Spaghetti Fest 2019 at Traders Village
What: Come out to the Brown Expo and enjoy Italian Music as well as some incredible Spaghetti. All plates will come with toasted garlic bread.

Sunday

Fishing and Fish Printing Day at Guadalupe State Park
What: The river will be stocked with Rainbow Trout- come borrow a fishing pole and try your luck at fishing! No fishing license is required to fish from the bank of the river in Texas State Parks. While you’re here, stop by and try the ancient art of Gyotaku — a method that Japanese fishermen used to record their catch. Block ink, paper, and rubber fish all provided.

First Sundays at the McNay Art Museum
What: Enjoy free general admission at the McNay every first Sunday of the month courtesy of the Dickson-Allen Foundation! If there is a special exhibition at this time, the special exhibition fee will still apply to adults.
