fiesta at home

Normally, this would be a long week of partying and celebrating in San Antonio. But due to Stay Safe, Stay Home orders, Fiesta has been postponed until this fall. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t some Fiesta fun to be had at home. Check out our guide below!

Fiesta Survival Kit at Mi Tierra

If you stop by Mi Tierra, you can get a complete Fiesta Survival Kit. The kits include Guac, bellpeppers, salsa, cacarones, pico de gallo, papel picado and three pounds of fajitas. The kit also comes with a loteria game and access to a fiesta playlisr. Margaritas and micheladas to go  are also sold separately. Take photos and post them with the hashtag, #fiestaathome, and the restaurant will enter you into a contest for the chance to win a $25 gift card. Orders must be made 24 hours in advance.

Watch Fiesta 2019 on KSAT

KSAT12, the local ABC affiliate, will be rebroadcasting last year’s Fiesta parades throughout the week. If you don’t have access to KSAT on your TV, you can live stream all the festivities at KSAT.com or using their streaming app.

Watch the Virtual River Parade from Home

Tonight at 7 pm, head over to the official River Walk Facebook page. Here you’ll be able to watch a virtual parade of home-crafted vessels sailing. One float will win a family 4-pack Holiday River Parade in November.

Where to Get Chicken on a Stick To Go

Just because there’s no Fiesta, that doesn’t mean you can’t still get your chicken on a stick fix. There are quite a few restaurants around town offering them to go. Check out the list below to see where you can get yours.

Host Your Own Living Room Dance Party

Local DJ Aaron Pena curated a Spotify playlist specifically for at-home Fiesta dance parties. Songs include “Cumbia de la Cobra” by Fito Olivares y Su Grupo and “El Baile del Gorila” by Massore among others. Cue it up and get to dancing with your family! Oh, and don’t forget the Fiesta cocktails. A few good recipes can be found here.

Virtual Pin Pandemonium Online

Usually hosted on the Fiesta kickoff date, this event will be broadcast live by the Fiesta Commission on Facebook from 6-8 pm on Thursday. Post your photos of pas Pin Pandemoniums and share photos of your famorite 2020 medals using hashtag #AtHomeFiesta. You can purchase virtual medals here.
