Most of us want to stay out of coffins as long as possible. However, given the right motivation, or if you’re a vampire, spending a significant amount of time in a coffin might not be that bad. If someone offered you $600 in cash (plus some other perks) to spend 30 hours in a coffin, you just might change your mind. To entice people to spend over a day lying inside a box usually used to house the stinking remains of dead people, San Antonio’s own Six Flags Fiesta Texas is bringing back its popular 30-hour coffin challenge with a host of prizes.
Six people will be chosen to lay in a coffin alone with no connection to the outside world. Participants can’t get out of their coffin for any reason except to participate in certain elimination challenges or for designated bathroom breaks or else they’ll be eliminated.
The contest starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 4 and goes until 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 5.
To make things more difficult, the contestants will be subjected to random, terrifying visits from the parks “Fright Fest Freaks” periodically to keep their adrenaline high.
New for this year — only one person will win! The prize winner receives $600 in cash, two 2020 Gold Combo Season Passes, and a Fright Fest Prize pack that includes two VIP Haunted House tickets.
If you’re brave enough to enter the contest, you need to be at least 18 years of age or older with a valid ID, cannot have any medical conditions that would make lying in a coffin for 30 hours a risk to your health, must provide your own sleeping bag/blanket and pillow, and you’ll have to sign a waiver at check-in. You can fill out the form on their website for your chance to be selected.
Don’t want to enter but just want to enjoy the show? Stop by San Antonio’s Six Flags Fiesta Texas October 4-5 to witness the 30-Hour Coffin Challenge for yourself.
