Most of us want to stay out of coffins as long as possible. However, given the right motivation, or if you’re a vampire, spending a significant amount of time in a coffin might not be that bad. If someone offered you $300 in cash to spend 30 hours in a coffin, you just might change your mind. To entice people to spend over a day lying inside a box usually used to house the stinking remains of dead people, San Antonio’s own Six Flags Fiesta Texas is hosting a 30-hour coffin challenge with a host of prizes.
Unfortunately, the park has already chosen its six participants for this weekend’s challenge. According to a park press release, “among those selected are a funeral services representative, someone who loves to do nothing and an actor who had to lie in an onstage coffin.” The contest starts at 1:00 p.m. this Friday, October 12 and goes until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13.
The six coffin dwellers will be able allowed to bring a friend to keep them company (outside the coffin) during operating hours, but the coffin dwellers must brave their coffins alone while the park is closed. Contestants must stay inside their coffins for the entirely of the 30-hour challenge, although there will be regularly scheduled bathroom breaks.
To make things more difficult, the contestants will be subjected to random, terrifying visits from the parks “Fight Fest Freaks” periodically to keep their adrenaline high. Luckily, though, contestants will be able to use their phones and will be provided with phone charging stations. I don’t know about you, but with Netflix on my phone, I can withstand 30 hours of anything.
Prizes for completing the 30-Hour Coffin Challenge include $300 cash, two 2019 Gold Season Passes, a Fright Fest Prize package including to VIP passes to the park’s haunted house, and best of all, the coffin itself.
Stop by San Antonio’s Six Flags Fiesta Texas this weekend to witness the 30-Hour Coffin Challenge for yourself.
