There’s something about a pumpkin patch: the cheery bright and bold colors of fall signaling the changing of the seasons; the excitement of selecting just the right pumpkins for our porch; the anticipation of what we’ll carve into them as we celebrate the spookiest of all holidays.
In San Antonio you can find pumpkin patches all over town, at churches, on street corners, even at schools. Here are our family’s three favorite pumpkin patches in and around the Alamo City. I’ve also included links at the end of this post that list other pumpkin patches around town and, I’d love for you to share your favorite local pumpkin patches in the comments. Happy Halloween!
Bracken United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch
More than 15,000 pumpkins fill this shady, country-style pumpkin patch. There are many fall- and Halloween-themed photo backdrops and cutouts throughout this patch, as well as hay rides, wagons you can borrow to cart around your pumpkins, and a tiny train for tots to ride.

Alamo Heights United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch
This simple pumpkin patch holds a special place in my heart because it’s the first one we took our daughter to when she was just seven months old (and sporting a ridiculously cute lobster costume). While there aren’t rides or games or mazes, a sea of pumpkins, of all sizes and shapes, covers the little field on one side of this beautiful church, topped with two spires, which provides a unique backdrop for fall family pics.

we have always gone to St Thomas Episcopal but we might try Bracken this year for something different!
Linda, Bracken’s pumpkin patch is really fun and it’s larger than the St. Thomas one. Both are great but if you’re looking for something new, definitely visit Bracken!
We have a 6 month old grandson and, of course are looking forward to pictures. Thanks for posting this!
Velma, that is the perfect age to take some cute pumpkin patch photos. Have fun!
Excited. This year we’re gonna go to pumpkin patch for the first time:)
We’d love for you to check out North Central Christian Church’s pumpkin patch at 1300 Evans Road. We have beautiful pumpkins on beautiful property, and lots of great photo opportunities. This is our first year to do this, but we are getting rave reviews from parents and professional photographers!
Which one has more activities for lil ones?? Bracken or St Thomas?? We are very excited ,Its our first time going!
Lucy, if I had to choose, I’d say Bracken probably has a few more activities for little ones. Also, we visited a pumpkin patch at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thousand Oaks this weekend and they had lots of fun games and activities for little ones. Have fun!
