San Antonio is already a hot spot for the best national and international live music acts, but it’s likely that even more big name outdoor concerts will soon be heading our way. Texas’ own EVO Entertainment has just unveiled plans for a massive new outdoor amphitheater and entertainment complex right in our backyard in Schertz. When it’s completed, the amphitheater is sure to become one of the best entertainment venues in the greater San Antonio area.
EVO Entertainment Group CEO Mitch Roberts says the I-35-corridor, around the Schertz and Selma areas, is “absolutely exploding but has a noticeable void when it comes to entertainment options.” To help fill this void, Roberts and EVO are planning a massive new entertainment complex which includes a state-of-the-art cinema in addition the new amphitheater which could become “an incredible entertainment destination unlike anything we’re currently seeing in Central Texas.”
The new complex is expected to draw 2 million guests a year to the area. Roberts says that while there might be some early complaints about what all of that extra traffic and noise will do, his group is working alongside city planners to ensure the new entertainment complex is built in the most responsible way possible:
With any project of this nature, traffic and noise are going to be a concern. With that being said, being early to the market puts the project in a great position with freedom to collaborate with the city and developer to make sure we execute carefully, and responsibly for both residents and future tenants to the development.
The amphitheater is being designed with sophisticated acoustic treatments in mind to minimize any unwanted noise pollution that concerts might create. An exclusive 2,000-space parking lot for amphitheater goers is also in the works. Developers are planning on a January 2019 opening for EVO’s new entertainment and live music complex.
