It’s something we San Antonians already knew: San Antonio is a major foodie destination! Wine Enthusiast named San Antonio one of the 5 Best Foodie Cities in 2014. When deciding where to spend your hard-earned date night dollars, check out these five favorite foodie finds of mine, covered previously on San Antonio Mom Blogs:
1. Tribeca
Located in pretty, tree-lined Olmos Park, Tribeca boasts some of the freshest cuisine around. They plan their menus around what’s available at the farmer’s markets each week. Although, among this list of fantastic restaurants, that’s not unique. What is different about Tribeca is they offer a broad menu of fine cuisine but they also welcome kids. Their decor is date night but, in the back of the house, they’ve got a kids’ room (and a kids’ menu). Check them out when you can’t find a sitter or when a family date night is in order. And, of course, they’re perfect for any twosome without the kids too.
2. Tuk Tuk Taproom
A huge selection of craft beer, an adventurous menu of South Asian cuisine that changes almost daily, and a beer garden out back: Tuk Tuk Taproom is where my husband and I go for a relaxing night out. Chef David Gilbert has traveled the globe but his heart lies in Southeast Asia. Luckily for us, he brings cuisine and culture from there back to the Alamo City to fill out bellies with savory, spicy, and out-of-this-would dishes that make you crave more after every meal.
3. Kimura
Real ramen, in the heart of San Antonio? You bet. Chef Michael Sohocki, the talent behind Restaurant Gwendolyn, brings this delicacy to San Antonio. Just a few blocks from the Majestic Theatre (and soon, the Tobin Center for the Arts, when it opens in September), it’s the perfect tiny spot for a romantic date night for those who love sushi, ramen, and other Japanese favorites.
4. So Bro Pizza Co.
Napoleon pizza, a fine (and reasonably priced) wine list, delicious salads, and homemade gelato are the stars of this newly opened pizzeria on Broadway near the Pearl. But the cool light fixtures and the top-notch, friendly service run a close second, making this one of San Antonio’s favorite new date-night spots.
5. Earth Burger
San Antonio’s hottest new joint is this one-of-a-kind vegan/vegetarian fast food restaurant and it’s a great place for a less formal, yet fun, date night. Flavor is the focus here, with a nice dash of health tossed in for measure. I’m not a vegetarian but the “burger” I enjoyed there yesterday – a totally vegan one, until I topped it with cheese – could fool many a meat lover. Be sure to try their coconut soft-serve for dessert. It’s divine!
These are just a few of the incredible foodie delights you’ll find these days in San Antonio. For more foodie finds and cool places to eat, check out my Flipboard Magazine: San Antonio Foodie.
You are brilliant! Nice tie. Well played. 🙂
Love this list! Well of course I love this list because you included Earth Burger. 😉 However I do love Tribeca. That kids’ room is awsome-sauce. Then pizza makes me faint at heart — so happy to have SoBro in the hood.
SA is FOR REAL the Foodie place of the world! When we first moved here our brain thought we were on vacation because of all the food goodness, yep w that … weight and flub gain!
Most of theses places are new to me…pinned!
