Whew! Fiesta is over but now the heat is on. Seriously. It was 99 yesterday! I’d love to say, “Spring is in the air!” but it feels more like August just plopped it’s steamy self down for a spell. Still, we are in the swing of the season of flowers and rain showers (Please, come on, rain showers!) and San Antonio mom bloggers are busy with spring cleaning as well as digging into seasonal gardens. Let’s check out just a few of the helpful, creative, and inspiring posts that were linked up here last week:
The gals at Handmade Mood managed to make cleaning look like a beautiful (and healthy) pastime. Their post on creating your own sweet smelling kitchen cleaner with essential oils and their handy printable cleaning list will move your usually dreaded chore to the top of your To Do list.
Inga, with San Antonio Charter Moms, introduced us to San Antonio City Councilman Rey Saldaña, who just joined the KIPP San Antonio charter school team as their Chief Engagement Office. She weaves a lovely story around her meeting with Saldaña (I felt as though I was sitting right there with them, enjoying their conversation). Saldaña’s work with KIPP includes a strategy for fighting poverty and food insecurity in his district by arming his constituents with rich educational opportunities.
If you’re looking for a bright, colorful preschool book with an artful message, Veronica recommended Art Dog. Her four-year-old can’t put it down and that’s just about the best recommendation a parent can get.
Thinking about starting a garden? Kelli showed us how easy it can be to get a backyard organic garden up and growing. Even her 15-year-old’s in awe of her mad veggie skills.
And Caden gave us a gorgeous glimpse inside the historic Menger Hotel in Alamo Plaza, complete with a review of their reasonably-priced, elegant brunch.
Now it’s time for this week’s San Antonio Mom Blogs’ Link Up. What are you blogging about? Share your posts here all week long!
It’s always a surprise to us when in the few weeks of spring, we get a day of almost 100°! SUMMER!
Thanks for the link-up…pinning!
I was pretty caught off guard, Patti! 😉 But, bring on the swimsuits and longer days. I’m ready!
I am fiesta’ed out! I will say, I am glad they extended it.. gave busy folks more time to enjoy the festivities. And….. a cold front is coming Wednesday! Whoo Hoo for that!
Any “cold” front we get from now until winter is most definitely welcome. 🙂
Love all those posts! Art Dog is a favorite of ours as well, must pop over and tell Veronica that!
We haven’t read Art Dog yet but now we have to. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy for my dog-lovin’, art-lovin’ kiddos.
It went from perfect to broiling… at least a longer respite than years past.
So true, Julie. Seems some years we get scorching hot days as early as March!
Thanks for mentioning my garden! The hot temps are going to force me to water it more now–aak! 99 degrees yesterday was crazy!
I had to make my first shoe box float last week with my four-year. Eleven years in San Antonio with kids in school and somehow I was spared that project until last week. A google search led me to your awesome Rice Krispie Alamo! 🙂
That’s so cook, Kelli! Yes, we somehow got by only having to do that project one time. Good thing I have a crafty husband. How did your float turn out? Is there a blog post on the way about it? 🙂
This gave me the biggest smile to see my post on here =)), Thank you!
Your smile is making me smile, Veronica. I love your site. I always learn about wonderful books for kids and adults (and cool thrifting tips!).
I can’t wait to check out Art Dog. We love learning about other peoples’ favorite books! Thanks for linking to the blog and for all that you do!!
Thanks for linking up, Sarah! I can’t wait to try your baked french toast. It looks amazing.
