Disclosure: In exchange for posting about Minted wedding invitations, I’m receiving credit towards Minted products. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
Ten years ago, my husband and I eloped. Well, we planned our wedding. But it was on an island, far from the U.S. mainland and, although we told everyone, we invited no one. That’s eloping, right?
We thought long and hard about our decision (OK. I did. Guys don’t think long or hard when it comes to wedding stuff, amirite?). Eloping meant leaving family and friends out of our special day. But, in the end, saying I do on a white, sandy beach in the U.S. Virgin Islands was my dream come true. And, as it was not my husband’s first rodeo at the altar (mixed metaphor, much?), he was more than happy to oblige. Guys like easy. And simple. When it comes to weddings! Not brides! Ahem.
Because we eloped, we didn’t send wedding invitations. To this day that’s one of the things we (OK! I!) missed about not having a wedding in San Antonio.
If we had hosted our wedding in town, and invited all of the awesome people in our lives to attend, I still would have been enchanted with a beach-themed wedding. I’m sure I would have selected island-inspired designs like these pretty invitations from Minted:
As it turned out, our wedding was beautiful. So beautiful, in fact, that we made a pact to return to St. John to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It seemed so far off at the time and, yet, it’s almost here. My husband and I have made plans for a romantic, kids-free vacation back to St. John to celebrate later this summer. Squeeeeeeeee! I CANNOT wait!
