Free Family Events in San Antonio this Weekend
Ford Holiday River Parade + Holiday Lighting
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and it’s happening at the San Antonio River Walk. The annual Ford Holiday River Parade is the perfect addition to your traditions.
Watch as 27 vibrant decorated floats and five entertainment floats travel down the river as they bring in the holiday spirit. Plus, there will be 100,000 holiday lights all over the place that will be up until New Year’s Day.
If you want to take advantage of the free viewing area, you want to show up as early as possible. You can also purchase tickets for other seating areas to make sure you don’t miss out.

Visit from Santa in Frost Plaza
Head over to Frost Plaza for a chance to meet Santa! If you want photos with him, you can purchase a slot for professional photography. There will also be Winterfest activities, like ice skating and a holiday market.
Cowboy Christmas & Locals Day
It’s a good day to be from San Antonio and Bexar County. Enjoy a day of art and culture for free!
Now, “Full STEAM Ahead” is part of Briscoe’s Locals Day! The whole family will get to learn all about the American West through hands-on workshops and activities for all ages.
This year, Cowboy Christmas falls on Locals Day. This means that you’ll get a lot of Western fun and meet Cowboy Santa!

Old West Christmas Light Fest 2024
Start your holiday celebrations with a bang! The Old West Christmas Light Fest has tons of photo ops, Santa, lots of food and drinks, and a shopping area.
The kiddies can run around and let all their energy out in the playground with a Giant Mega Slide, a Fun Run Maze, and lawn games. You can even show some love to animals in the petting zoo.
Splashway Christmas
Celebrate the Christmas season in the water at Splashway Water Park. Their Splashway Christmas features tons of exciting activities like the Lighted Christmas River Float, Ice Skating, arts and crafts, photos with Santa, and more!
Christmas Country Fest
Put a Western spin to your holiday festivities at Christmas Countryfest. Listen to live music, enjoy Texas snow, take advantage of the many photo ops, and have your photos taken with Santa!

Magical Memories with Santa and the Dinosaurs
Now’s your chance to hang out with Santa and dinosaurs at the same time! The family can take an epic photo with the Big Man in Red and prehistoric beasts.
I love visiting the Witte because it’s one of the few places where parking is a no-brainer. The Brackenridge Park Parking Garage is right next to the museum, and you don’t need to cross any main streets to get inside.
The Witte also participates in the Museums for All Program to offer discounted tickets ($3) and half off special exhibitions to those who receive SNAP and/or WIC. All you have to do is show your EBT card and matching photo ID to get up to four discounted tickets.

Eisbahn – Ice Skating Rink
Taking a trip out to the hill country for the Eisbahn Outdoor Ice Skating Rink is well worth the time and effort. There’s also plenty to do in Fredericksburg, especially for food or wine connoisseurs, to really get the most out of your trip.
Make some magical memories with your family while you glide and skate on ice.
A portion of the proceeds from Eisbahn is donated to two local charities. Prices include skate rental, and Tuesday tickets are sold at a discount.
