Thank you to everyone who entered the Zoës Kitchen giveaway last week. Heather H. was our lucky winner. But the real winner was the San Antonio Food Bank.

I pledged to donate $1 to the SA Food Bank for every entry received. There were 36 entries. Today, San Antonio Mom Blogs donated $50 to the San Antonio Food Bank (rounding up seemed like a good idea).

The San Antonio Food Bank is able to take every $1 donation and turn it into $13 worth of food for families in need. That means our donation (mine and yours – we did this together!) will be worth $650 in food. AMAZING.

Today is the last day of September and the last day of Hunger Action Month. But just  because this wonderful month of awareness is at a close does not mean everyone in America is fed and happy and our job here is done. Unfortunately, the issue of hunger in America continues. And so does the fight to eliminate hunger in our own country and, eventually, every country around the world.

To keep up with this important cause, please be sure to like the Moms Fighting Hunger Facebook page for updates. You can also like the No Kid Hungry page. As the year goes on, consider organizing a school or community food drive. Maybe donate food or money when and where you can. And, especially, talk to your kids about this very real challenge we face. They are the future of the fight against hunger.

The more we can all help, even in small ways, the bigger difference we can make in the lives of children and their families who struggle with hunger.
