Free in San Antonio is published each week on It’s not an exhaustive list but, rather, a curated list of free (and almost free) events and activities families will enjoy. Check back throughout the week as more free events and activities may be added.

FREE swimming at San Antonio public outdoor pools:
The season runs June 14 through Aug. 16. Hours of operation at the majority of the department’s 24 outdoor pools during the summer are Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. with some pools open from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please note: help set the Guinness Record for the largest swimming lesson in the world. Details below under June 20.

HEB Free Family Night at the San Antonio Children’s Museum. Kids and adults receive free admission to the San Antonio Children’s Museum every third Tuesday. Take advantage of free parking on Tuesdays at downtown city-operated facilities after 5:00 p.m.

Lone Star Live Summer Concert Series presented by The Current
The free, all-ages inaugural concert features San Antonio bands Creatura, Lonely Horse, and Crown. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The series continues on July 15, and August 21.

Free Family Night at Krispy Kreme: donut decorating, crafts, and games for all ages.

Wednesday, June 18, San Antonio River Walk and Alamodome, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
The San Antonio Spurs river parade and championship celebration – free for all to attend! Join all of San Antonio in congratulating our Spurs on their 5th NBA championship title at tonight’s river parade. Beginning at 4:00 p.m. fans may claim a free spot along the river to watch the parade (the route goes through the River Center extension past the Convention Center and Rivercenter Mall, and ends at the Convent Street Bridge). Following the parade, the Spurs will head to the Alamodome for a special ceremony at 9:00 p.m. Doors to the Alamodome celebration open at 4:30 p.m. and there is no admission charge. The Alamodome will offer a screening of the river parade in air-conditioned comfort. GO, SPURS, GO!

Uber is partnering with Crown Royal to offer free rides home from the San Antonio Spurs river parade and Alamodome celebration today: Download the Uber app and use code ReignOn. Must be 21+.

The free portion of WestFest, a day-long celebration of the completion of the sidewalks, streets, and Guadalupe Theater parking lot improvements, is perfect for families and takes place during the day. Attendees will enjoy art activities, music, dance performances, and food.
