FREE, once-a-month workshops for kids, ages 5 – 12 at participating Home Depot stores. This week, your child will build a Pencil Box. Kids’ workshops are on a first come/first served basis. Register your child online ahead of time to make sure there is room available.

Free admission to The DoSeum on the first and third Tuesday of every month! Only the first 1,200 guests will be admitted so arrive early. As part of the World Heritage Festival and in celebration of 100 years of the National Park Service, the community is invited to join a fun evening at Mission San Jose. Restored by Light will kick off with family-friendly activities and entertainment. Bring a picnic or enjoy snacks from the available food vendors. At dusk, the facade of Mission San Jose will be restored to its original frescoed appearance using projection technology. Don’t miss out this unique chance to experience the mission in a whole new way!

H-E-B Cinema on the Plaza. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to the Plaza under the glow of the Tobin Center and enjoy Kong: Skull Island! The plaza will open an hour before the movie starts. Hot Wheels® Speedometry ™ exposes young students to STEM-related concepts like using solid core wire and paperclips to build spoilers for their Hot Wheels® car, and modifying their track with cardboard to measure time, speed and collision forces. Anyone, including teachers, students and parents can attend STEM Saturdays at their local Microsoft Store every Saturday for free, project-based activities to discover and experience technology.

Visitors of all ages will be able to draw inspiration from Diana Thater’s video installation, Untitled (Bees), as they create collages with Spare Parts educators, Laurel Bodinus and Kara Michele Salinas. Components will include confetti discs from the Secondary Stories installation as well as other recycled and found materials. Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Despeinada. The San Antonio Spurs are inviting fans to the AT&T Center for the 2017 Silver & Black Open Scrimmage, presented by General Mills. The free event featuring a Spurs intra-squad scrimmage will tip off at 11 a.m. and is a unique opportunity to see the 2017-18 Spurs team in action prior to the regular season home opener on Oct. 18. All fans in attendance can take advantage of $1 draft beer and $1 soda at select locations, plus 25 percent off in the Spurs Fan Shop and special ticket offers available exclusively at the 2017 Silver & Black Open Scrimmage.
