Don’t worry, though, because there are plenty of great events for September. Use this list of Free in San Antonio to schedule your family calendar!

LEGO Americana Roadshow! For this special tour, master builders have built the nation’s most iconic landmarks out of LEGO bricks. Ten one-of-a-kind, large scale models of American landmarks made completely out of LEGO bricks by LEGO Master Builders – including the U.S. Capitol Building, White House, Supreme Court, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Old North Church – take over North Star Mall and entertain customers with stunning visuals and fun facts.

The 2016 “Bigger & Better” LaborFest San Antonio festival is a three-day, multi-cultural music and arts festival. This year’s festival will be held from September 2- 4, 2016 but only Friday night is free and open to the public. This free, Friday night event features live music from Jay Perez and other bands on Stage 2 at the Festival/Carnival behind the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, on Tower of the Americas Drive. Parking is available at the nearby Alamodome for $10.

Friendly dogs join us for a special swim for dogs at the Springfed Pool. Doggie Dip Day is a bi-annual event held at the Landa Park Aquatic Complex just for pooches! Viva Mi Cultura is a free educational demonstration that will be held at the Guadalupe Theater. Open to educators, students, and interest groups, the free one-hour lecture demonstration features members of the Guadalupe Dance Company presenting traditional dances, costumes and music of Mexico. Audiences will have the opportunity to watch the dancers perform traditional dances of Mexico, volunteer for a “mini” dance class on stage, and participate in a question and answer session with the dancers at the end of the performance. The 9th annual SchertzFest is free to attend. This event brings great food and live music together for families to enjoy. The Family Zone provides a carnival for kid-friendly fun. The BBQ Cook-off features some of the best Texas BBQ around. Gate admission and admission to the Family Zone is FREE! Carnival rides, games, food and beverage require tickets; prices range from 1 – 10 tickets. Tickets are $1 each.

Síclovía is back and celebrating FIVE years! Head to the Midtown East Route (Broadway to Alamo Plaza and Dignity Park) for fun in the streets. In partnership with the City of San Antonio, the YMCA will make 2.7 miles of San Antonio streets temporarily car-free. During the event, the streets will belong to individuals and families to run, ride bikes, participate in exercise classes and enjoy their city streets.

South Texas Maize is dedicating this weekend to American Heroes. They are so appreciative of the commitment and sacrifices made daily by these men and women that all members of the U.S. Military, retired, active duty, and veterans, along with their dependents, with valid ID’s are admitted free — as are all firefighters, law enforcement, and EMS personnel. Valid identification is required for every weekend.
