FREE, once-a-month workshops for kids, ages 5 – 12 at participating Home Depot stores. This week, your child will build a Kung Fu Panda 3 Spinning Box. Kids’ workshops are on a first come/first served basis. Register your child online ahead of time to make sure there is room available.

Explore the 28 Chinese exhibit through printmaking, impasto on canvas panel, ink & cola paintings and collage. Kids get free admission. After 12:00 p.m., adults pay $10 each.

H-E-B Free Cinema on the Plaza: Labyrinth. To celebrate David Bowie’s birthday, HEB offers a free screening of his 1986 movie: A selfish 16-year old girl is given 13 hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy the movie on the 32 foot LED screen! No outside food or drinks are allowed, but concessions will be available for purchase- including full bar service.

Saturday, January 9: Friedrich Wilderness Park Classroom, 78256, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Learn how you can be watershed wise through volunteer actions that create a healthier watershed and river. See a large-scale model of the San Antonio River and participate in a hands-on lesson that addresses the geography of the river, landforms, watersheds and nonpoint source pollution. Saturday, January 9: Medina River Natural Area Pavilion, 15890 Highway 16 S., 78264, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Medina River Nature Walk. Natural Area staff will provide a walk and talk for families with children along the Medina River. The walk includes viewing large bald cypress & huge pecan trees and talking about the signs of a healthy river. It will start at 9:15 a.m. at the pavilion. No registration required and while it is free to attend, a suggested donation of $3 per person or $5 per family is welcomed.

Free Family Art Day inspired by Eric Carle’s books. Join Inspire and instructor Ana Jimenez in a fun filled day of activities inspired by Eric Carle’s classic childrens books. Sample tasty treats and take home very neat art creations.

The San Antonio Coffee Festival is free and open to all coffee-lovers! Taste amazing fresh, locally roasted coffee from all over the world. Meet local coffee artisans who will roast and brew 40+ coffees. Appreciate the many people who pilot a coffee bean from crop to cup. Admission is free. Speciality Coffee Tasting Flight is $5.

Sunday, January 10: Trader’s Village, 9333 SW Loop 410 near Old Pearsall Road, 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Traders Village will host a toy giveaway in celebration of Dia De Los Ninos, it’s Jugueton 2016. Giving back to the kids of San Antonio. During this annual event, Univision will be handing out toys to hundreds of children of all ages. This event features a family-friendly atmosphere with activities and giveaways for all in attendance. The event is free, but parking is $3.

Natural Areas Field Guide Training. Would you like to learn how to be a field guide and lead others on hikes through the Natural Areas? Rodeo Warm Up with Johnny Rodriguez. Traders Village knows the Rodeo isn’t until February but they want to prepare you with great dancing music provided by Johnny Rodriguez and his band. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy this great music. His 35 albums and 45 singles will provide plenty of great music. Music will be in Brown Expo but show times have not yet been posted. The event is free, but parking is $3.

Imagination Playground at Hemisfair. This free, organized play event at Yanaguana Garden takes place every Monday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Hemisfair puts out their Big Blue Blocks for children ages two and up. Hemisfair staff and volunteers lead organized play that is fun, active and educational.

Monday, January 18, 3500 block of MLK Drive, 10:00 a.m.
San Antonio’s Martin Luther King, Jr. March – This 2.75-mile march, commemorating Dr. King’s life and legacy, is open to all. The March begins at MLK Academy, located in the 3500 block of MLK Drive. It ends at Pittman-Sullivan Park, located at 1101 Iowa.

Monday, January 18, Magik Performing Arts Center, 5359 Casa Bella Rd., 78249, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, celebrate with your community at a free open house at the Magik Performing Arts Center! Magic Theatre kicks off their 2016 Spring Season with a party for families and kids of all ages, with free food, drinks, class demos, and entertainment. Meet a Frozen princess, enjoy magic shows, get your face painted, grab a balloon, jump rope with Apollo, learn a dance with Sarah, and eat lots of popcorn!

The free 38th Annual Cowboy Breakfast kicks off rodeo season and provides free food (including breakfast tacos, biscuits and gravy, sausage, juice, coffee, sweet rolls, and more) along with live music. Free shuttle buses are available to and from the Cowboy Breakfast from the Santikos Realto Theater (2938 N.E. Loop 410). Parking is also available onsite at Cowboys Dancehall.

Star Party at Brooks. See the stars with some of the coolest telescopes around! The Star Party at Brooks will provide 10+ telescopes (including the largest in Texas!). Professionals will be on hand to show you the stars and answer questions. Bring your own lawn chairs and snacks. Event will be cancelled if it’s cloudy.

Sunday, January 31: San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 W. Jones, 78215, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Free admission to the San Antonio Museum of Art.
