The San Antonio River Authority (SARA), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), and Bat Conservation International (BCI) are hosting the 5th annual Bat Loco Bash, which will be held on Tuesday, August 8 and will include a bat parade, educational booths, food trucks, live music and bat friends. The Bash is part of San Antonio’s Kidcation Week. Bring your family and lawn chairs to learn all about bats.

Texas Public Radio presents: When I Grow Up, a free family event designed to foster the imagination and encourage children to dream big. This event will bring together a wide range of careers to help kids understand the endless possibilities. This program is designed to inform, entertain and inspire, children and families will get the opportunity to meet with a wide variety of professional ‘mentors’. Organized like an expo, children will be encouraged to meet and talk with professional ‘mentors’ who represent careers they are most interested in. In addition, a series of presentations will ‘share the story’ of careers that are popular with kids. Activities and entertainment will also be present!

Saturday, August 12: Caliente Hot Glass Studio, 1411 North Hackberry, 78208, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Caliente’s Illuminate the Dark event includes four hours of live glass blowing demonstrations by multiple artists with a special performance at 9 pm, unlike anything the public has ever had access to before. This demonstration will take place in the dark, lit only by fire and molten glass. The glass pieces created during this time will all be donated to raise money for this non-profit organization that has been empowering the blind and visually impaired of San Antonio since 1933. Kid-friendly, free and open to the public. Refreshments and new art pieces available for purchase.

Free admission on the second Sunday of each month. Explore Texas Freedom Colonies through engaging family presentations, activities and more. The day will include a lecture and slideshow on Texas Freedom Colonies.

CNC: Little Explorers! Little Explorers will come for fun and adventure using their five senses to discover nature.
