No insurance? No problem. As the warm weather is winding down and fall breezes become more common, many are excited for the break from the triple-digit heat that Texas summer is known well for. However, along with cooler weather comes the unavoidable flu season. Are you looking to get a flu shot? Thanks to many generous donors, you can get one for free at the Freeman Coliseum parking lot in San Antonio this Saturday, September 26th. The CDC has announced that this year, more than ever, the flu shot will be instrumental in helping to guard the immune systems from disease and respitory related illness in the time of COVID-19.
To be eligible for the free flu shot, all you need to do is register online and show up. H-E-B, Bexar County, and University Health System are partnering to host the shot clinic from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Each person who is interested in a flu shot should submit an individual registration, including children that are age 3 and older. There will be a team of several H-E-B pharmacists that are administering flu shots and will be following strict guidelines from the CDC to ensure everyone’s safety. Most major insurances plans will be accepted, and for those without insurance, flu shots will be given free of charge.
This event is centered around the idea that people can drive up, receive their flu shot in their vehicle, and never have to get out. The health and safety of those receiving the flu shots, as well as those giving them, are of the highest priority and social distancing practices along with other COVID-19 precautions will be taken. Aside from the event that these three large organizations have chosen to put on, all H-E-B Pharmacy locations also offer flu shots and other preliminary and precautionary immunizations. Vaccines at H-E-B pharmacy are available daily and walk-ins are welcome. For more information, visit H-E-B’s website.
