San Antonio residents can still get chicken-on-a-stick and other traditional Fiesta foods in honor of Fiesta week from restaurant Mi Familia. Fiesta, San Antonio’s largest annual celebration has been postponed until November. As the community respects stay at home orders and attempts to stop the spread of COVID-19, most of the city is limiting the amount of time spent outside their homes. But just because San Antonio’s biggest party is postponed until November doesn’t mean that Fiesta food has to be. Head over to Mi Familia to get your drive-thru Fiesta food.

This Saturday, April 25th, families and friends can head over to Mi Familia to get their drive-thru Fiesta fix. The event begins at 12:00 pm and will last until 6 pm in the parking lot of Mi Familia de Mi Tierra located in the RIM shopping center. Mi Familia is going all out and providing San Antonio residents with food booths that will be serving popular Fiesta staples such as chicken-on-a-stick and gorditas.

San Antonians are encouraged to put on their best guayaberas and embroidered blouses and get their Fiesta food-fix from Mi Familia. Drive-thru fiesta food is the community’s way of celebrating and preserving the tradition that Fiesta embodies, even if it does look a little different this year.

This way, guests will be able to “get their fiesta fix from the comfort, and safe-distance, of their vehicles,” a spokesperson for La Familia Cortez restaurants explained.

In addition to purchasing food, guests can also buy micheladas, margaritas, and mangonadas. If you want to take your at-home Fiesta experience to the next level, Mi Familia is also selling a variety of Fiesta accessories such as flower halos and papel picado. Grab some halos and decorative paper and head home to make your home a Fiesta!

San Antonio’s Fiesta may look different than it usually does, but the community continues to fight to preserve their heritage.
