Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott had a press conference at the Texas Capitol. During the press conference, he announced new developments in his plan to reopen Texas, the first of which allows barber shops, hair salons, and nail salons to open this Friday.
Openings come with a few limits. First of all, they can only be open for one-on-one appointments. Customers may only wait inside if six feet of social distance can be maintained. Masks are encouraged but not required for both customers and stylists.
The governor also revealed that gyms may reopen on May 18th. They must adhere to the same 25% capacity rules as restaurants. Social distancing and strict sanitation procedures must be followed. Gym goers should wear gloves when touching equipment, and showers and locker rooms must remain closed.
There’s no word at this point on when bars will be allowed to reopen.
