The 6th annual 5K Walk and Run for Aid The Silent, which supports the deaf and hard of hearing, is still happening. This annual race takes place every year in Boerne, Texas, and is put on by the San Antonio Hospital for Children, Christus, and the Ear Institute of Texas. The money made from the 5K goes directly to helping those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The 5K will take place on September 19, 2020 and will have COVID and social distance rules in place for health and safety.

Aid The Silent is a nonprofit that is based in Texas and functions to support deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens. The nonprofit makes sure that kids and teens are given equal access to opportunity by supporting them with financial assistance to help them communicate, receive education, and improve their health.  The 5K will take place in Boerne, Texas, at the Boerne Main Plaza at 8:00 am. Due to COVID-19 and some people’s discomfort of running in person, Aid The Silent has put together a virtual running plan so those can still participate in the 5K. The virtual running registration will come with a t-shirt and a bib that is included in registration.

One of the best ways to participate in this 5K is with a team. Teams can be made up of friends, families, and coworkers. You can also save $5 after your 10th team member signs up. Beyond the fun of running with friends and families to raise money for a charity, the largest and most creative teams in the 5K will receive prizes at the end of the run. Aid The Silent makes it incredibly easy to register with a team. You can also create your own team t-shirts, or add your own team accessories to the ones they give you.
