Funtown USA Games & Sports Complex, a San Antonio staple of the 80’s and 90’s, has been abandoned for 20+ years. However, as of July 2020, the park has a new owner who looks to revitalize and reopen the complex.
Located at 1600 S. Gen McMullen, Funtown is said to now be owned by Noemi Cardenas, according to her father, Mario Cardenas.
Mr. Cardenas says he hopes the park will be renamed “Funtown of San Antonio.” He also hopes to see go-karts, an arcade, and batting cages as in days of old. New additions will include a food park as well as backyard style games.
Below is a post that went viral from Mr. Cardenas’ sister-in-law announcing the project.
An official Facebook page is in the works to keep those interested updated on the parks renovation progress.
