1. Free Stroller Strides class at their Grand Opening at Brackenridge Park via BloomMaternity (March 28)
Ellen at Bloom Maternity’s Bloom Blog turned me on to a free Stroller Strides class on Wednesday, March 28, at 9:30 a.m. at their Brackenridge Park Grand Opening. Even if you’re out of the stroller stage with your kiddos, you can still participate. According to Ellen, only a stroller is needed for this workout. You can leave the baby (or kid, or teenager) at home. Check out this page to register for the free class.
2. Learn to save at the grocery store with Erin Chase of 5dollardinners.com (March 30)
Learn the secrets to healthy, inexpensive cooking in San Antonio on March 30 with Erin Chase and Savings Nation. Erin, famous for her amazing blog, 5dollardinners.com, will share her tips for how to spend less money at the grocery store by making small changes to the way we shop, use coupons and meal plan. The workshop, held at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, 825 E Basse, will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and costs just $5 plus a canned good to attend….both of which go to the San Antonio Food Bank. Be sure to register for Savings Nation and don’t forget to tell your friends!
3. Girls Inc Science Festival for Girls (March 31)
Girls Inc., the San Antonio chapter of the national nonprofit dedicated to, “inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold,” hosts their Science Festival for Girls on Saturday, March 31, from 10:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m. in the Rackspace parking lot on Walzem Road. Free for girls, boys, and their families to attend, this festival encourages kids to get nerdy with all sorts of hands-on science exhibits covering the worlds of biology, information technology, engineering, mathematics, and more. I took my daughter, niece, and son to last year’s Science Festival and they had a ball getting geeky and, at times, dirty, at the mind-blowing booths. Take the girl (or boy) in your life to this fantastic, free festival of scientific discovery.
4. Lucy’s Canine Carnival (March 31)
Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa is opening their new downtown location and to celebrate they’re holding a free Canine Carnival to benefit the San Antonio Humane Society. Bring your pooch to participate in activities including free, self-serve dog washing; a doggy fashion show; dog nail trimming; dog masseuse; a dog/family photo booth; and more. Bring items to donate to the San Antonio Humane Society and help Lucy’s stuff their van full of goodies for pups waiting for forever homes.
5. Tara’s Farewell #Foodiemamas Festivities
One of our beloved San Antonio mom bloggers, Tara Burkholder, who writes at Mama to Aidan, is *sob* leaving San Antonio! She’s moving in April and the #foodiemamas are giving her a delicious sendoff. There are just six spots left for this intimate event for food-loving San Antonio moms who want to join in on our tasty fun. We’re dining at Restaurant Gwendolyn first and then heading over to the Esquire Tavern for cocktails. If you’ve read Tara’s blog or her tweets you know she’s one fun-loving, outspoken mama. And, after we get a few cocktails in her, there’s no telling what she’ll say. You don’t want to miss the #foodiemamas night on the town so RSVP to join us.
Who me? Opinionated and outspoken? You flatter me. 🙂
You crack me up. Thank God for Twitter so I can keep up with your awesome tweets even while you’re in AZ.
