Whether you want to stay close to home or take a long road trip, we have the perfect family fun for you and the kids – a safari. Okay, it’s not exactly what you’re thinking probably. It’s a Texas-style drive thru safari!

These Texas drive thru safaris are the perfect activity for these crazy times – the entire experience takes place from the safety of your own car! And there are safaris right outside the city, or throughout other parts of Texas you can road trip to. Whichever you choose, here are 3 Texas drive thru safaris for you to check out!

#1 Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

The Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch reopened on May 1st and is pretty much open year-round. For those living in San Antonio or Austin, this is a convenient road trip to the outskirts of New Braunfels. It offers 450 acres and 30+ species of animals to see. And the scenery is gorgeous featuring rolling hills, spreading oaks, and more. The drive thru is a six mile trip.

Adult tickets are $24.50 and children are $15.50. Under three is free.

If you plan on venturing out into the gift shop or any other buildings, face masks are required, so come prepared. Find out more here.

#2 Franklin Drive Thru Safari

The Franklin Drive Thru Safari is a little under a three hour drive from San Antonio. However, it’s less than an hour from College Station, so perfect to include on a road trip in that direction. While the park is only around 100 acres, you’ll experience over 50 species of animals (over 1,000 animals live here!). The drive thru is about a mile long, but there’s also a 10 acre walk through section.

Admission is $15 and kids under two are free. You can also purchase feed buckets. For more info, check out their site.

#3 Exotic Resort Zoo

exotic resort zoo

Exotic Resort Zoo is only a short drive from San Antonio. And during these unprecedented times, it’s open for drive thru safaris. Our readers give this zoo rave reviews. When we originally put out this list, we left this one off. And we received so many comments about it that we just had to add it! We also featured it in it’s own article, so you can learn more about it here!

Bonus: Aggieland Safari

Planning a trip out near Bryan? Then don’t miss Aggieland Safari. This 250+ acre drive thru experience allows you to see over 100 animals. It also includes an adventure zoo that offers 20 acres of animals to interact with and feed. Adults cost $21.19, kids $16.37, and children under three are free. You can also get a family 4-pack for $70.65 to save a few bucks.
